How do you know if someone deleted you on WeChat?

WeChat Personal Account Management

WeChat doesn’t make it easy to find out if a contact has deleted you. Especially since WeChat has a personal contact limit of 5,000, it can be frustrating to have to figure out who to delete when you reach the limit (which I have reached over and over again since 2016). Since being on WeChat for more than five years, I would consider myself a WeChat expert. However, I didn’t realize that there IS a way to find out if people have deleted you… and I’m going to share it with you.

STEP 1

Firstly, create a Chat.

STEP 2

Secondly, select the contacts you want to see if you are still connected with. You can only select up to 39 contacts for this evaluation process. Beyond 39 contacts, you will receive an error saying that the contacts need an invitation.

Most importantly, those selected will not be notified about this group chat, as long as you do not send a message to the group.

STEP 3

Next, click “Done”

STEP 4

Consequently, check the group chat. Do not send a message to the group chat. You will potentially see two options:

1.  The person has violated WeChat’s terms and are not allowed to be added to the group chat.

2. _ _ _ _ has not added you as a friend yet.

Due to the fact they had deleted you, if you click their name it will ask you if you want to add them as a contact. Do not click yes, unless you want to be connected with them again. Please note what the two options look like in the screenshot below:

STEP 5

Finally, take a screenshot so you can reference the picture when finding the contacts to delete, and go to your contact list and delete the people who deleted you first.

As a result, you can see in the image above, I selected 39 contacts and now only 35 contacts are active in the group. Because several people had violated the terms, they couldn’t be added to the group. The others had deleted me as a contact (their loss).

There you have it! That’s all there is to Option 1

Delete those who have disconnected from you, it’s healthy, and helps you have a more useful contact list.

OPTION 2

If option 1 is too time-consuming for you, then you can use this Taobao Link https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=578895585743

to purchase a service for (3.5 RMB / $0.52) to detect dead-end contacts. None of your current or previous contacts will be contacted during this process.

This service provides two options for filtering contacts:

1. Delete the users who have deleted you

2. They search who has deleted you and then add them to a tag group so you can do what you want with them.

I tried Service 2, and it worked well. My other friend tried Service 1 and it worked well for her.

It takes roughly one hour to receive the link that will be generated to complete the contact filtering. After receiving the link, it took roughly one-hour to complete the service. It also requires Chinese language skills, or an excellent understanding of how Taobao works, to complete tasks towards completion. Below are some screenshots of the process to help you understand what you’re getting yourself into:

The next set of screenshots happens on your phone, in WeChat:

File Transfer, step 1

File Transfer, step 2

File Transfer, step 4

File Transfer, step 5

It detected 546 contacts who had deleted me, and 12 contacts who had been deleted by WeChat for breaking the terms of service. It put them all under a tag on my WeChat, and now when I need to free space, I can just go there and delete them one-by-one.

I chose this option because I didn’t want them to delete everyone without me checking who they were first.
There you have it! Two ways to delete those who have disconnected from you, it’s healthy, and helps you have a more useful contact list.
